What is Early College?
Brunswick County Early College High School (BCECHS) is a small, student-centered High School with approximately 360 students. We are partnered with and located on the campus of Brunswick Community College (BCC) in Bolivia, NC. The partnership with BCC allows our students to earn both a high school diploma and the option of earning an Associates degree, certificate, or up to two years of college transfer credit. At Early college, we develop life-long learners who are positioned for success in the competitive global marketplace by actively engaging and succeeding in the rigorous academic standards and collaborative efforts of our teachers, parents/guardian, our community and Brunswick Community College.
How does it work?
Students residing in Brunswick County, NC can apply to the Early College as a rising 9th grader or a rising 10th grader. Students will have the opportunity to apply for admission through an online application the winter before their 9th or 10th grade year. The applications will need to include teacher recommendations, a written piece and student/parent interviews. You will be notified of your acceptance and and will be required to attend the New Student Orientation Day in August. Students will take most of their high school core courses in their 9th and 10 grade year and most of their college classes as an upperclassman in their 11th, 12th and 13th year. College classes serves as "dual credit" and will count as high school credit to earn your high school diploma and the option of earning an associates degree, certificate or college transfer credit from BCC. By attending BCECHS, it makes college more affordable and accessible which equates to approximately $30,000 in scholarships.
